Millington
Jared Roehl Cardinals
The second wrestler to come out on top from Millington is none other than
senior Jared Roehl. At 215 pounds, Roehl takes 1st for the second time follow-
ing his sophomore year when he placed 1st back in the 2014/15 school year.
As soon as the match was over, a five point lead of 6-1, was what made Roehl
number one in Division 3 at the 215 pound weight class. Jared had won for
the very last time of his high school career. Leaving off his senior year at 38-0,
he left high school with the overall being 178-11. The referee didn’t just lift his
hand up, but as high as it had ever been held up and “It was an instant sign
of relief. I had completed one of my goals that I had had since I started wres-
tling.” Roehl feels that couldn’t have done it without his family and coaches
by his side, and his brother who has been helping him out since his 7th grade
year. “I couldn’t have done it without him helping push me and always work-
ing with me.” Jared has shown absolute commanding qualities as he has been 2017
in a leadership position since his high school career wrestling as a captain. State Champ
The wrestler of 13 consecutive years is simply inspired by the sport. “I love
wrestling, the training it takes, everything about it! It keeps me busy and work-
ing hard. It taught me to work hard in wrestling and for everything in life.”
To Jared it isn’t just a few practice partners it’s many, he has had so many
partners to workout with he wasn’t sure where to begin when I asked him who
his practice partners were. “It is important to have different types of wrestlers
and guys to help push you and make you better.” Taking his special ability to
the next level, Jared will be wrestling for Central Michigan University in June
of 2017. In the meantime, by that I mean off season, he will be preparing by
doing a lot of lifting and technique work. “Just working on getting stronger
and better,” Roehl tells Sports Finest Magazine. Learn from Jared Roehl by
Believing you are going to win, and have faith in yourself that you can, but
have fun when scoring points. “To be the best, you have to train like the best.”
