Caro Tigers Varsity Wrestling








             Traditionally the Caro Tigers Varsity Wrestling program has been successful and this year is no different.  They have a 9-2 record, winning
        the Caro Individual tournament and placing second at the Freeland tournament out of 24 teams.  They also participated in the New Lothrop
        Hall of Fame tournament which featured 30 teams, 7 of them ranked.

              The team is led by its 3 returning state qualifi ers; Blain Wood (140 lbs), D.j. Daniels (152 lbs), and John Botkins (135 lbs).  All 3 of these ath-
        letes made the fi nals at the Hall of Fame tournament with D.J. being named the MVP of the tournament, and John losing in the fi nal seconds
        to a two time state champion.
             Blain Wood fi nished 2nd in the state as a sophomore and 5th as a junior is looking to cap off his career with a state title.  Junior D.J.
        Daniels fi nished 3rd in the state last year and is ranked number one in the state this year is determined to win a state title.  John Botkins is
        also setting his sights high to fi nish off the year.  Other captains include juniors Ty Inches (130 lbs), Garrett Stoick (145 lbs), and senior Bryce
        Lasiewicki (215 lbs).  The team also has 5 starting sophomores who all have wrestled tough this year and are developing into great wrestlers.
        Keggan Miller (103 lbs), Jacob Wilson (140 lbs), Steven Withers (160 lbs), Mark Spencer (189 lbs), and Hunter Dickson (HWT) all have winning
        records this season.  The team also features 4 starting freshman who have all shown great improvement as the season marches on;  Bryan
        Sherd (112 lbs), Coven Withers (119 lbs), Tom Waggoner (125 lbs), and Tim Waggoner (171 lbs), who also shares time with junior Jimmy Hill.
        Coming off the bench is Kieren Bursick (125 lbs) and Troy Bolton (171 lbs).

             The Caro Tigers won both the District and Regional crowns last year and feel they can win their 25th straight District crown this year.
        They are also set on adding their 11th regional championship.  The program has had over 100 state medalist and plan to add more this season.
        The team motto is: “The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare”.  Good luck on the rest of the season Tigers!
