2018 Freedom Festival Strongman Competition
This year we plan on holding our 2nd Strongman Competition during the Freedom Festival in
Cass City. This years event will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 1:00. Last year we tried this event
and it was a big hit. We had a total of 17 competitors from all over the state last year and this year
we are hoping to double those numbers making this a big time event!!
For those that aren’t familiar with Strongman competitions, there is a total of 5 events. This year
the fi ve events are as follows: log clean and press, super yoke, farmers carry, harness pull, and the
atlas stone. The person that does the best in all the events is crowned the winner. We plan on hav-
ing lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight divisions.
The log clean and press will be for as many reps as possible in 60 seconds. The super yoke is
also timed for 60 seconds and you carry the weight
as far and as fast as you can up to 60 ft. The farm-
ers carry is similar to the super yoke except you
have to go 50 ft and turn around and come back.
For the harness pull we will be pulling a semi for the
heavyweights and a small truck for the lightweights.
The atlas stone is another timed event. Put the
stone over a bar 52 in. off the ground as many times
as possible in 60 seconds.
If you are looking for a gym to train at we now
have a lot of the Strongman equipment at Ligrow’s
24 Hr Fitness. We have a log press, yoke, farm-
ers carry handles, and atlas stones. The training
for events like this are brutal and intense. We don’t
only pick up heavy weight, but we try to pick it up
and run with it. Strongman athletes have to train to
be strong and agile. We don’t lift for one rep max-
es, but we lift the heaviest weight we can and do it
for as many reps as we can in 60 seconds.
If you think you are up to the challenge to see
how strong you really are, you should sign up and
compete in this year’s competition. Cost is only $50
for members at Ligrow’s
24 Hr Fitness and $75 for
non-members. If you don’t
want to compete, but want
to be involved in this great
event contact Jon at Lig-
row’s 24 Hr Fitness. We
will be looking for volun-
teers to help with set-up
and tear-down, and we are
also still accepting spon-
sors to help pay for the
professional that we have
come in and host the event
for us. For $150 you will
get your name/business
on the back of the t-shirts,
