How long have you participated
in this sport/activity? I’ve been
coaching Varsity Basketball for 16
years. Varsity Girls at Kingston
for 12 years and Varsity Boys at
Cass City for 4 years.
What do you love best about it?
Going to Practice - I enjoy helping What awards or honors have you

Thinking back over the years, who
is a mentor or coach that helped
you grow as a coach or athlete?
What made them special? My
former high school coach Leon
Westover. Coach Westover was
mild mannered and had a great
mind for the game of basketball.
He taught me that as a player and
coach you had to put in the time.
Coach Westover always had the
Kingston gym open so we could

play or work on our game and he
would take us all over the state as
Who do you idolize in this sport/
activity? I have great respect for
both Tom Izzo – Go State! and
John Beilein and my favorite team
of all time were the Detroit Pistons
of the Bad Boys era
Have you traveled anywhere spe-
cial related to this sport/activity? I One tip for someone looking to get

What have you learned from
participating in this sport/activ-
ity? You can always improve as a

What do you like the most about
the sport/activity? I enjoy work-
ing with my older brother Dave.
We’ve been doing this together for
many years. He has been a big
reason for the success of Kings-
ton Girls Basketball
What is your favorite moment?
I’ve been blessed to be part of so
many great teams and moments.
Our first district title in Kingston in
1995, after a comeback in the 4th
quarter, was very special. I also
loved those packed house crowds
in the GTC on Friday nights while
coaching basketball in Cass City
in the late 90’s and early 2000’s
into this sport/activity: Be orga-
nized and ready to put in the time.
Are there any other activities you
love? I love camping/travelling
with the family, trout fishing, and
watching MSU Football.
Where can we find you in the off
season? In the gym or helping
with the football program.
