The ROVE RHS Innovators of Reese, Michigan recently traveled to Roseville, Michigan to compete in the
Square One Education Network’s Underwater Innovative Vehicle Design Challenge. Throughout the day,
this hardworking team competed in several infrastructure- and environmental-based tasks. They were
also judged in several categories where they placed first in both engineering and craftsmanship and de-
sign innovation. These award-winning innovations included custom-designed 3D-printed connections and
motor jet drives, an inexpensive car backup camera to give drivers wider visibility, and custom aluminum
prop adapters designed by the students and fabricated with the help of Kremin, Inc., a manufacturing
company based in Frankenmuth.

Now, the Innovators are looking forward to their next challenge. In order to compete in the Square
One Innovative Vehicle Design Challenge at Kettering University on May 11, the group is working to test
and improve a stock 1/10 Traxxas Slash. With innovations including Arduino-based sensors, custom bod-
ies, and other performance modifications, they will be well prepared to tackle challenges of speed and
agility. The RHS Innovators have enjoyed solving these problems as a team as they work towards this
exciting opportunity.
