The USA Varsity Baseball team had a great season with a record of 25-7-1. They
went on to win Districts, Regionals, and Quarter-finals before being stopped in the
State semi-finals in Division 4 by Portland St. Patrick. They ended the 2017 run with
a 30-8-1 record.
USA Coach, Tyler Bader wrote; “This year’s team was determined from the first
days of practice to set the bar high. The slogan that was often used was, “EL or
Bust.” Everyone had the same focus and it was all about the team accomplishment.
I am proud of the work ethic of these players as I kept demanding attention to detail.
Surely there were times when they probably hated me, but no one said a word and
continued to buy in. Each year I tell the program that we are what our seniors make
us, and these seniors wanted the very best results. It truly was a historic season
for all of us and will always be in our favorite memories as we look back. I am a
proud coach and look forward to the challenge of getting back again.”
The members of the 2017 USA Baseball team were: seniors – Paul Miklovic, Isa-
iah Williamson, Nathan Engelhardt, Tanner Foley, Brendan Prime, and Cody Fink-
beiner. Juniors- Devin Riskey, Ryan Kain, Cooper Kauffold, Hunter Bohn, Macklin
Gettel, Myles Geiger, and Zachery Fritz. Sophomores – Nic Lutz, and Jalen Gangler.
