Frankenmuth Youth Football
The 2017 Frankenmuth Fifth Grade Eagles are looking forward to improving
on their 5-1 record from last year. Though light on total numbers, the Eagles
return a solid core group of players and welcome a few new athletes to the mix.
The key players on offense are Logan Garchow at quarterback, Collin Ranck
and Owen Bierlein at tackle, and Aiden Labissoniere and Charlie Sanders at
running back. The defense is led by leading tackler Brody Herbert at middle
linebacker and Landen Wise at safety. “Our goal as coaches at the youth level is
and has always been to teach kids the fundamentals of football in a way that will
make them fall in love with the game,” says head coach Chuck Sanders. The
Fifth Grade Eagles run the double-wing offense and a variation of a 4-4 defense.
Coach Martin and the high school staff has a great relationship with the youth
program and strongly encourages the teams work on offensive and defensive
schemes that the kids will be using through high school. Coach Sanders says
that developing the players for the future is what makes this so much fun for his
staff. “Our boys run the Varsity plays and will know them inside and out when
their time comes to wear those mighty winged helmets under the Friday night lights.”
