Birch Run
Varsity Volleyball
The Birch Run Panther Volleyball Team went 33-17-3 this season. The team had a hefty load to carry as
they were scheduled to attend some big tournaments where they would face solid competition from various
ranked division 1 and 2 schools. As an athlete you learn some tough lessons on how to be resilient when
you play hard, but come up short. The girls continued to work hard through out the season which proved
to be noteworthy as they rounded out their season with their final conference game against Millington. This
game would decide who would be the TVC-East Champs. They went five games with Millington, and pulled
out the win to earn the outright title of TVC-East Champs. This was a big win for BR volleyball as the last
TVC-East title was earned in 2001.
Following this big win the BR Panthers went on to win the TVC Tournament which included the east, cen-
tral and west teams. Here they would defeat Millington again in bracket play and would go on to defeat
St.Charles in the finals.
The Panthers then prepared for post season play where they would defeat Caro in the first round of Dis-
tricts, moving onto Frankenmuth in the finals who they defeated in 5. After earning the district title the team
moved on to the regional semi-finals defeating Stanton Central Montcalm, and then would face Corunna in
the regional Finals. The Panthers would fall short to Corunna in 4 games (taking the first set 25-18 and then
falling short 11-25, 20-25, 26-28).
The team made great strides this year. Winning the TVC-east conference and winning back to back Dis-
trict Title and advancing to the regional finals. The team was lead by 4 seniors Madison Flint, Sabrina Jar-
bou, Ashlyn Leo, and Pheonix Stricker. Other major contributors to the teams success were Juniors: Sarah
Miller, Makenna Oberski, Hannah Flint and Sophomores: Emma Mcilhargie, and Alley Lasley, and Freshman
Logan Martinez.
It is never easy to lose if you are an athlete, but sometimes experiencing a tough lose is what keeps you
coming back for more, and we will be back for more! Caoched by Erin Nostrandt
