Parker Haire 1997-2019
This past month the thumb community lost an impressive member, Parker Haire. At
the ripe age of 21, Parker was a very well accomplished young man already. Haire was
a junior studying actuarial science and was a teacher’s assistant in a pre-calculus class
at Michigan State University. Before his time at Michigan State, Parker was a Cass City
graduate. At Cass City, he excelled both academically and athletically. Haire was apart
of the National Honor Society and was in the top of his class, ranking 11th. Parker also
took part in multiple teams during his time as a Red Hawk. He was a multiple time All-
Greater Thumb West selection in football, basketball and track. Parker’s senior year
would see him lead his track team to a conference championship and he would place
ninth at the Division 3 finals, missing All-State by .01 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles.
Before he bled green and white, Parker bled maroon and white and was a huge ad-
vocate and lover for his schools and communities where he was a respected member
as well. Parker loved the outdoors and Boyne was his special spot. That’s where he’d
spend much of his time at a family cottage. Parker was on to his second semester of
his junior year and had an internship in Chicago lined up for the summer. Parker will be
missed by so many as he was a bright young man with huge aspirations and the abil-
ity to light up a room with just his smile. He’s survived by his parent’s Karen and Clarke
Haire and his younger sister Kacey Haire, among many other family members.
From the Sport’s Finest family to the Haire’s and those who were touched by Parker in
some shape or form, our thoughts and prayers are with you and may he rest in peace.
