The Great Lakes Bat Co.

The Great Lakes Bat Co. is a Michigan-based wood baseball bat company, founded in 2017.
Founders Aaron Chamberlain and Tim Roberts began the business with a goal of bringing profes-
sional-grade wood bats to the market at affordable prices, but it has turned into a lot more than that
since. In only two years, the company has added uniforms, team apparel, and training bats to its
product lineup, while also having their bats approved for professional play. They have found ways
to serve teams and organizations of all types, and as guys who have spent a lot of time both teach-
ing and coaching, have found ways to help high schools and community organizations through their
business.

The biggest potential impact for the company, though, is with its revolutionary bat fitting process.
Shortly after starting the bat company, it was realized that in order to really serve hitters the com-
pany needed to do more than sell people great bats… they needed to sell people the right bat. That
started with figuring out how players select bats and what variables impact performance. Through
a long product development process that started with some simple concepts, a product was born, a
formula was written, and a process developed.

That data-driven process is now being implemented in training facilities across the country, and it
has become the talk of Spring Training in one big league camp. Their bats are being used through-
out professional baseball, their recently-launched uniforms are being shipped throughout the region,
and their team apparel can be found outfitting players from coast to coast. What started as a way to
bring professional-grade wood bats to the Great Lakes Region has become so much more.

By listening to coaches and players, leveraging both data and common sense, and looking for
solutions where others aren’t, the Great Lakes Bat Co. has positioned itself as an up-and-coming
bat company, and the industry leader in bat fitting.
