Kingston
The Thumb area was rooting and cheering for the Kingston girls basketball team this past
March. They won the District, Regional and went all the way to State Semi-Finals before losing by
the score of 44-48 to St. Ignace.
“The goal this season was to improve every day and make Kingston Basketball History by earn-
ing a trip to the Final Four. The girls worked hard, played unselfishly as a team, and accomplished
the goal of defeating Clarkston Everest Collegiate 40-27 in the Quarterfinals. The girls basketball
games were an Event this year for the Kingston Community and Coach Dave and I could not be
more proud of this group of girls.” said Coach Jay Green. “We beefed up our nonconference sched-
ule to prepare for the tournament. Win or lose, we applied what we learned from these games in
practice and made us a stronger team come March. Our fans loved coming to these games too.”
We played nonLeague games against: Saginaw Nouvel, Utica Eisenhower, Brown City, Burton
Bendle, Croswell Lexington, Marlette, Oxford, Saginaw Swan Valley, and Lapeer.
The accomplishments for this years team include:
1) 2nd straight All Thumb Team of the Year
2) 7th straight NCTL Championship
3) 3rd straight Brown City Tournament Championship
4) Regional Champions the last 4 out of 5 years
5) 24-3 is the most wins by a Kingston Girls Basketball team
“This senior class has been Awesome! Notably four of the girls - Jillyan Dinsmore, Lily Lyons, Car-
ley Smith and Camryn MacGuire have been on Varsity for four years. Gerilyn Carpenter has been
up for 3 years. The seniors have been together since elementary school, understand their roles
and play unselfishly, and have great basketball minds. Ever since they were freshman they knew
how to make Big Plays in Big Moments. They will leave a lasting legacy on the Kingston Girls Bas-
ketball Program.”
Congratulations to the Kingston Girls Basketball Team and Coaches from Sports Finest Staff and
Readers.
